WordPress Application Development
Developing a creative landing page for the University of Georgia's OneUGA campaign using Elementor Pro.
OneUGA is a social media campaign spearheaded by Beach Lion (an agency in St. Petersburg, FL) for the University of Georgia, intended to foster community between undergraduate students.Preview in a New Window
As part of the social media campaign for undergraduate students at the University of Georgia to share their story, they needed a website where students could submit such. They brought me onboard to take their concept UX design and build a custom WordPress theme using Elementor Pro, ACF Pro and Custom Post Types.
Within a matter of a few days we went from concept to completion, using Elementor's native functionality where possible, and extending it using custom widgets where Elementor fell short. The main masonry element showing student stories was one such custom widget, using VueJS, conditional WordPress queries and custom CSS design (from SCSS) to allow the UX to perfectly match the design mockups. We didn't compromise functionality for design, or vice versa.
The hero section, despite a highly creative treatment with multiple masked parallax sections, was actually built using entirely native Elementor functionality, and a little bit of "outside of the box" thinking.
In all this project took a matter of a few days, including a few rounds of quick revisions, and integrates seamless with the University of Georgia's and the OneUGA campaign's existing branding.
"Awesome work, thank you so much! It's looking great.”
